The second graders at Mill Valley Elem. have a "Fairy Tale Ball" 
at the end of the year. They spend a few weeks learning about different fairy tales and then they have a big party. They all dress up as a character and then they have a parade through the school, a dance in the gym and finish it up with a royal feast! After much much much discussion Kevin finally decided that he would go as "Gingy" the gingerbread man from the Shrek movies. He did not want a mask of any kind, so I put together this simple costume for him for the big day. The day was a lot of fun, there were many different costumes (only one other Gingy) and everyone look cute. One of the funniest things to watch was the dance. Kevin had commented that he was going to have to dance with a girl, but he did not know who. When it was time for the dance the kids were so deep in concentration on counting and keeping in time with the steps they looked like they were having a terrible time (and not b/c they were dancing with the opposite sex)! After the ball we got to go to the feast. Kevin made "Gingy-Ale Punch" and there were many other creative dishes named after whatever character the kids were.
